What is required?

You must have a high-speed internet connection at your store.

We install and configure an FTP services program on your XP or 2000 computer. We will create a special user that is password protected. Then we create a list of files to be backed up, and set a scheduled time that your computer connects with our secure, encrypted server every day. At the scheduled time, your archived, encrypted backup is stored in a secure location.  It's that simple. It is important for you to know that no-one ever connects to your computer. 

How are the backups retrieved if they are ever needed?

First, you decide how many days worth of backups you want stored for immediate availability.  If you need older backup sets, you place a call to our support center, and the backup center will ftp the required set to your backup server.  At that point, the data is available for you. Many of our clients elect to have one of our technicians come out assist with the restoring.

There are two criteria that determine this.  The first is the number and size of the data you want backed up.  Remember, you only need to back up data, not program files.  The second is the number of days you want historical back ups kept.  Let's say your data files, after archiving, come to 1.5 MB in size.  You want to keep seven days worth of backups, so you would take 1.5 times 7, which would be 10.5 MB worth of storage.

Our backup FTP software compresses the data with a compression password, then the data is encrypted.  The data is stored not only on our redundant file server, but also on our own backups which are monitored daily. You are the only one that can read and restore your data with the passwords and encryption keys. There are current backup sets always available to you on the server.  Every night, off-site servers pull ALL backup sets onto redundant servers, which themselves are backed up every morning onto hot-swap hard drives, which are rotated daily.  The off-site storage is kept off-site in fire-safe storage. 

We ALWAYS run full backup sets during each session, assuring that the latest of everything is on one set of backups.  The data is also brought over to another site that is seperate from the network.

Our software skips over any files that are open on your computer. Make sure that you don't have necessary data files open.  By scheduling the backups in the early morning hours (after midnight, before 5am), you reduce the risk of open data files. 

After the nominal setup and installation charges, you can backup up to 500 MB compressed data for as low as $14.95 per month.  We have packages available for up to 40GB of backup storage!This includes rotated available sets, redundant backups off site, and additional off-site stored backups.  How much would it cost you if you had to restore your data and it wasn't there?
